To add an additional security layer to your new iPad 3 device, you should Lock or change the default SIM PIN on your tablet.

In this tutorial we will show you how you can the SIM, whether it's your first time or you simply just wanting to change an existing iPad SIM PIN.

1. Press the Homeipad-home-key key.

2. Tap on Settings ipad3-settings.

3. Choose Cellular Data.

4. Select SIM PIN.

5. Here you will have the change to lock the SIM with a PIN or change an existing.

Note: Some carrier may lock your device SIM PIN by default, and you they to ask your network provider for the SIM PIN. For example AT&T uses 1111 as their default PIN.

Some carrier uses the last 4 digit of the PUK code as the SIM PIN.

When you are in meeting or at a library you would not want your iPad to keep making beeping sound because some one send you a message on a chat messenger, or you have a new email. Rather you would want your device just to stay quiet while you are in that quiet place. You can use the side switch to quickly do this.

1. Slide the side switch up or down to lock the screen. If it doesn't work then you might need to assign the lock feature to the side switch button. Continue with the next step to assign the function to the side switch.

2. Press the Homeipad-home-key key.

3. Tap on Settings ipad3-settings.

4. Choose General.

5. Under Use Side Switch to:, tap on Mute. This will assign the Mute function to the side switch instead of the lock screen rotation function. You can only choose one or the other.

Now when you are in a cinema or at the library you can quickly use the side switch to silent the sound.

Here is a quick tips you could use to lock or unlock the screen rotation on your new iPad 3.

When you are laying down on a couch or in bed, and you are browsing the web or reading an exciting ebook of Harry Potter, the iPad screen could easily rotate horizontally or vertically when your turn your body from side to side. This can be annoying as you might want to screen orientation to lock in one place so could easiy read the webpage. Here's how to do so:

1. Slide the side switch up or down to lock the screen. If it doesn't work then you might need to assign the lock feature to the side switch button. Continue with the next step to assign the function to the side switch.

2. Press the Homeipad-home-key key.

3. Then tap on Settings ipad3-settings.

4. Select General.

5. Under Use Side Switch to:, tap on Lock Rotation.

Now you can turn the screen around and the orientation would not change.

 
New iPad 3: Increase Volume Limit For Louder Sound

Your new iPad 3 come with a predefined maximum sound level, if you find that when you have turn the volume up to a maximum but it still not loud enough for you, then you could change the Volume limit to make it louder.

The Volume limit have been put in place to protect you from hearing loss. It is recommended that you should not listen to loud music on an earbud or earphone for a long period of time. Your maximum period should be around 60 minutes, after that you need to allow the ear to have a break for 1 or 2 hours. If you have decided to crank up the volume anyway then here's how:

1. Press the Homeipad-home-key key.

2. Then tap on Settings ipad3-settings.

3. Choose Music.

4. Select Volume Limit.

5. Now change your maximum limit.

Warning: Once again, we cannot stress enough about the importance of listen to loud volume, ensure you are not using the earbuds for more then 60 minutes to avoid hearing loss.

 
New iPad 3: How to Quickly Mute Sound

Your new iPad 3 has a great speaker and it can be loud, when someone call you on the phone and you want to have some quick silent, so what can you do?

You could quickly mute the iPad 3 device by using the volume key.

Here's how:

1. While your device is play audio sound,  press and hold the Volume Down key.

2. Your device is now muted.

To turn the audio back on simply press the Volume Up key.

If you have set a passcode, then when you open the cover you still need to put in the passcode to gain access to your device.
